The 141 cycle trail which has been mentioned earlier leads through Luka past the Vrutická water station. From here leads the 0008 trail. It is marked as a road but be prepared that it mostly leads through forest paths and complications may arise when it rains. It may also be complicated to cycle through areas where timber is cut and processed. Do not try to use this trail on a racing bike!!! Mountain or trekking bikes are a must.

At first the trail leads through Zadní Důl past springs with drinkable water. These shall accompany us for seven kilometers all the way to Libeňský Důl (Libeňský valley). Libeňský Důl begins behind the road which ascends to Řepín. In the gorges beneath Zahájí, in places where the trail mixes with the blue footpath, there used to be the HQ of the National Avenger partisan group of 1945. This group operated in these woods. The ascent to Zahájí is the most difficult part of the cycle trail. This trail has worsened more than improved from the times of the partisans. The hill does not end at the first building but does have a tarmac surface. However, not all is won! The local dog of an unknown breed hates cyclists!

The trail carries on along roads, through a valley into Chorušice and through another into Stránka, where the trails part. The number 8 carries on through Vrátno and Lobeč into Nosálov, where it links with the cycle trail around Vrátenská Mountain - this shall be discussed later. So I shall concentrate on trail 0009 today. From Stránka the trail leads along the road into Mšeno. Behind the town turn right to Sedlec. After a kilometer do not overlook the turning to the right and the trail leads through a field path into the terrain. The weather must be dry. I made this route at the end of March and I didn’t drown myself in the mud only thanks to the fact that this year’s spring wasn’t the warmest and the surface of the path was frozen into stone. The cycle trail follows the blue tourist signs. A steep downhill cycle shall get you to Močidla, a beautiful wild gorge full of sandstone cliffs. As the name hints, it is rather damp here and if the weather isn´t freezing then there is a lot of mud. The most beautiful and wild place is Apatyka. Leave your bikes at the notice board of the nature trail and set out for a short exploration of the area.

From Močidla head for Pokličky and you are on route 142 which leads through the whole of Kokořín valley. If you return back along this route to the Lhotka crossroads and further to Mělnická Vrutice, the trail closes on itself. Even with the journey to Mělník you shall have made a good fifty kilometers. The turnings off the trail shall be discussed later.
