Dubá – Korce – Tachov – Okna – Žďár – Dubá

27 km – moderately difficult

Go out of Dubá town square and head for Nedamov. In Nedamov directly oposite the swimming area is the Černý Mlýn hotel, decorated by an original millstone. At the crossroads by the swimming area turn left and cycle up a slight hill and the Březinka crossroads. Here one may stop for a while and look out over the landscape. Malý and Velký Beškovský Vrch, Kamenný Vrch and Nedvězí are beautiful peaks one cannot but admire. From here descend downhill into Ptačí údolí (Bird valley), ride through Plešivec and then prepare for a steep ascent to Korce which luckilly is not that long. In Korce one shall have already covered 5km. Go along the main road towards Doksy. After leaving Korce you can enjoy the panorama of the Jizera Mountains with Ještěd and Mácha´s Lake in front . After 3kms you reach Tachov. On the way you pass a monumental tree – a lime tree which looks as if four trees were grown into one. In the town square one may find refreshments at the U Slunečních Hodin Pub. Return 100 metres from the pub and turn left to Okna (cycle trail no. 0015). There is a crossroads on the 9th kilometre, where we leave the no. 0015 trail and head straight for Okna where you have a unique view of Bezděz Castle. Go through Okna and pass Lipka and Okna pubs. From Okna head for Mšeno. At the Luka crossroads keep going straight untill you reach Žďár, a village memorial reservation with cottages, a baroque chapel and the U Komára pub. From here head for Houska but don´t turn off for Houska! Carry on for Ždírce and then left through Ždírec valley nicely downhill into Dubá. At the 22nd kilometre one may notice a small chapel carved into the rock of a cliff. The route is very beautiful and can be managed in 1,5 hrs if one resists stopping off for the odd pint or two in one of the local pubs.

Dubá – Ráj – Jestřábice – Dobřeň – Dubá cycle trail

30 km

And off we go again from the square in Dubá – in direction of Rozprechtice, where we go by a turn to Dražejov and we are headed left, towards Mšeno. Some 4 km further is a natural spring with drinking water, on the left by the road, where we you tank up. The road will take you through the woods and right before an uphill towards the Blatce junction you will feast your eyes on an astonishing sight of bizarre sandstone rock formations. Go straight through the junction and a downhill follows, till you arrive in Blatečky – at the end of which there is a nature reserve of the Pšovka stream source. We will go on to Tubož, where there is a raceway just a couple of meters off the junction. Having checked it out, we can continue in the direction of Mšeno. The 11th kilometer features the Ráj Wetlands nature reserve. There are two refreshment points in Ráj where you can treat yourself to a drink or a nice meal and from Ráj we turn off right to Vojtěchov. Here, at Křížek (Small Cross), you make another right and we shall follow a nice path all the way to Jestřebice. The trail is comfy, unless you have to rain it off, as it gets pretty muddy after bigger showers. We go past a signpost directing us to Jetřebické Capstones (Jestřebické pokličky), a sight more or less inaccessible from here if you are on bike, though. There is a pub on the left, called Druhý dech (Second Wind), some 10 m from an entry onto the main road. Here you can rest and then you have to get back to where we left off before we came onto the main road. At the small cross we turn off right (not sign-posted though) to Dobřeň. When we get there you will be surprised to find out that we have covered some 18 km. From Dobřeň you get onto the Blatce junction, where we make a left turn and enjoy a downhill back to Dubá. This trail is bit longer than the usual ones, on the other hand it is more comfortable and not as hilly.
